San Francisco is home to some of the most romantic places in the US and worldwide. Many couples choose SF to propose to their loved ones, for its magnificent views, iconic historical places, and more. We get asked a lot, what are some of the best spots to propose? That’s why we’ve put together a short list of our favorite places to propose.

#5 - Palace of Fine Arts
Palace of Fine Arts
One of the most iconic spots in the city!
Easy access, close to Crissy Fields, Golden Gate Bridge, and other picturesque locations. Keep in mind that the Palace of Fine Arts is a popular location among tourists, and not so private, for the most part. The Palace is free to the public, with plenty of free parking around.
Private Boat
Nothing says I LOVE YOU quite like a private yacht! With stunning views of Downtown, Bay Bridge, and Golden Gate Bridge, your chances of getting a “yes” are extremely high!
Prices of renting a yacht vary by vendor.
Professional photography is challenging but doable. We were able to photograph a yacht proposal from Treasure Island, while secretly communicating with the captain.
The Fairmont Hotel
No doubt, one of the most iconic SF hotels. Its history dates back to 1907.
Renting a private room at Fairmont can get expensive, but offers the most private, and flexible schedule for your proposal.
Sutro Baths
Another popular proposal spot in SF, mainly due to its epic views of the sunset, which makes it one of the most romantic ones.
Proposing at Sutro Baths is a bit tricky, as it requires a bit of a hike to reach. And since it’s pretty popular, expect to see a lot of locals, tourists and landscape photographers, trying to capture that perfect sunset photo.
Sutro Baths is free to the public, with plenty of parking space nearby.
Slackers Hill
If you prefer a bit more isolated proposal, consider proposing at Slackers Hill. Located just outside of San Francisco, it offers a magnificent view over the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay. You really can’t go wrong with these views.
One downside of Slackers Hill is that it takes 20-30 minutes of uphill hike to reach, from the nearest parking lot. The hike is pretty intense, so make sure to bring water and snacks. Oh, and don’t forget that ring…
